Registered Charity No: 1072172 (England & Wales).
When people are asked what their most precious sense is, sight comes top of the list. With this in mind the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers’ Charity was set up in 1998 to make grants to charities directly supporting people with sight loss and vision impairment.
Over the past 18 years the Charity estimates it has supported over 100,000 beneficiaries through organisations providing services for vision impaired people, associated research, eye health education and training and increasing accessibility in business and leisure activities.
Very often, sight loss can lead to being disenfranchised, unemployed and house bound. We aspire to raise £1m by 2029 to continue our work and give people with vision impairment more opportunities to participate in society as fully as they can. Our priorities for 2017- 2019 are to increase opportunities for vision impaired children and to support their families, to enable access to employment and cultural activities, to support UK vision research and internationally to support education and training in the areas of eye health and sight loss - the sort of services we may take for granted.
So please consider the WCSM Charity when you are updating your will. We can assure you that your generosity will directly help those disadvantaged with sight loss and vision impairment and they will continue to benefit from your gift for many years to come.
