13.5 million people in the UK live in poverty, including 3.9 million children. Bereavement, job loss, family breakdown, ill health, disability and caring for someone are often significant factors in the onset of financial difficulty, especially when these challenges mean someone must reduce paid work. The mounting cost of living also has enormous effects on personal finances, causing many to struggle to make ends meet. During that struggle, people may eat less so they can feed their children, or choose between lunch and heating because they cannot afford both. When financial difficulties are unresolved over an extended period, people can lose their homes.
Fighting poverty by helping those in financial difficulty has been our mission for 120 years.
We provide help tailored to individual situations, including direct grants to thousands of UK citizens and providing emotional support through our experienced caseworkers and national volunteer network. We also operate a unique service which helps thousands more individuals and families, often in shocking need, to gain access to financial help and vital information about financial matters online, by phone, or through the many partner organisations we work with.
We are immensely grateful to all who remember Turn2us in their Will. Legacies are vital to us and we need your help to enable us to continue and develop our work for the future. Any gift you leave will help us to continue to support people in financial difficulty, hardship or distress for as long as they need us.
