Registered Charity No: 277570 (England & Wales).

Thrive is the gardening for health charity. We use gardening to bring about positive changes in the lives of people living with disabilities or ill health, or who are isolated, disadvantaged or vulnerable.

We believe everyone with a defined need should have access to therapeutic gardening and horticulture programmes and should be actively encouraged to use gardening to benefit their personal health and wellbeing. We deliver this in 3 ways:

  1. We use plants and gardens to enable people to improve their mental and physical health, to develop social skills, combat isolation and promote learning – we call this social and therapeutic horticulture (STH).
Hundreds of people benefit from our STH programmes at our centres in Birmingham, London and near Reading; we also deliver outreach work in the community.
  2. Our digital gardening for health information service ‘Get Gardening’ provides easy to understand advice and guidance on gardening making it easier for everyone to enjoy the benefits of gardening in their own space and time.
  3. We use our expertise to deliver courses in STH, training up the next generation of STH practitioners and enabling others to set up STH projects across the UK.

A gift in your will ensures our work can continue and that even more people can improve their health and wellbeing through gardening and STH.
