Registered Charity No: 277570 (England & Wales).
Thrive is the leading charity in the UK that uses gardening to bring about positive changes in the lives of people who are living with disabilities or ill health, or are isolated, disadvantaged or vulnerable. The approach is social and therapeutic horticulture (STH).
Since then, Thrive’s aim has remained constant: to use gardening to bring about positive changes in the lives of people living with disabilities or ill health, or who are isolated, disadvantaged or vulnerable in a process known as social and therapeutic horticulture.
Gardening can benefit everyone, regardless of age or disability and Thrive helps a wide range of people including those living with sight or hearing loss, mental ill health, a learning disability or autism, social, emotional or behavioural difficulties, age-related conditions such as dementia, heart problems, diabetes or stroke as well as helping those recovering after an accident or ill health.
Thrive directly helps 1,400 people each year but reaches hundreds more through its training programmes, website and specialist tips on ways to improve good health and wellbeing through gardening.
Running therapeutic programmes at three locations in London, Reading and Birmingham, our therapists also go out to care homes and hospitals, bringing people together to garden in community settings.
Gardens are peaceful and restorative, providing a special place for recovery and a catalyst for good health. By leaving a gift in your will, you help Thrive bring the joy and healing power of gardening to even more people, enriching lives for years to come.
