Registered Charity No: 275913 (England & Wales).
Saint Francis Hospice is a locally funded charity, caring for local people with life-limiting illnesses. It is the local hospice for people living in Brentwood, Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge and West Essex.
A team of dedicated nurses, doctors and other health professionals care for people at the 18-bedded hospice in Havering-atte-Bower, in their own homes or in care homes, providing choice wherever possible so that people can receive care where and when they need it most.
People living with the challenges of life-limiting illness can also attend therapy groups and individual appointments at the hospice’s day centre where they can also speak to doctors and nurses about their own experiences and problems, as well as enjoying social groups, exercise classes and opportunities to create lasting gifts for loved ones.
Seeing a loved one going through an incurable illness such as cancer, heart disease or motor neurone disease can be very difficult, so families and loved ones can also access support from the Hospice’s family services and bereavement counsellors.
Nearly 1700 people are referred to Saint Francis Hospice every year and with just 27% of £11m annual running costs provided by the government, the Hospice has to look to the community for support to help ensure that care is available free of charge to everyone who needs it.
Dignified care at the end of life is something that we all want for ourselves and our loved ones and by leaving a gift in your Will, whether large or small, you will be helping local people facing their own death or that of a loved one. Please consider leaving a gift that will extend beyond your lifetime, providing care to those in your community who need it.
