Registered Charity No: 1001538 (England & Wales).
Since 1990 the NSG at the QMC has helped to fund world class research into neurodegenerative diseases by making grants for:-
• PhD and other projects relating to Alzheimer’s disease, Dementia with Lewy Bodies, Parkinson’s
disease, Multiple Sclerosis and Motor Neurone Disease
• Supplies, laboratory assistance and urgent equipment supply or replacement
• Organising & sponsoring awareness and information events for NHS staff, carers, patients and
the general public
Funding genetic research into rare variants of Alzheimer’s disease by a young PhD researcher at the start of his career is an example of the work we currently support. The laboratory where the work is carried out maintains, in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic in the USA, one of the largest DNA collections of Alzheimer’s disease samples in the world.
When needed, at short notice, we are able to provide small grants, not available from other sources, to solve problems which might otherwise slow down vital research work.
As the NSG has no paid staff and is run by dedicated volunteers we are able to make the most of the donations and legacies we receive.
Please help us to continue funding research to find cures for neurodegenerative diseases by remembering the NSG in your Will or making a donation now. Thank you.
