Registered Charity No: 1106735 (England & Wales), SC049431(Scotland).

The National Kidney Federation (NKF) has been representing renal patients for over 45 years and is unique in being the only national charity run by kidney patients for kidney patients. We also run the only UK Freephone Helpline dedicated solely to patients and families with kidney conditions, but still only have 9 full-time members of staff.

There are currently an estimated 3.5 million people with early-stage chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the UK and a further 68,000 with end-stage – meaning they are either on dialysis or have had a kidney transplant.

The NKF Helpline has been taking calls from patients since 2001. Lines are open from 8.30 am Monday to Friday and calls are answered directly by the Helpline advisers Linda and Stephen, who are fully trained NKF advisers and will always endeavour to answer any questions that are put to them.

Another service the charity offers is to improve understanding in Parliament of kidney disease and transplant medicine and to promote improvements in the health and care services that are available to improve the health of people with renal failure, the National Kidney Federation performs the role of Secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Kidney Group (APPKG).

Please support the NKF so they can continue to support kidney patients of all ages.
