Registered Charity No: 525775 (England & Wales).

The National Library of Wales was established through donations and legacies from the people of Wales who believed in the importance of preserving our heritage. These individuals helped to create a leading cultural institution and provide a safe home for many of Wales's treasures.

Since our creation we have worked to acquire material relating to Wales and the other Celtic nations, to conserve it and make it accessible to everyone, be that by visiting the Library itself or by using our website. The Library is recognised as a centre for scholarly learning and today we continue to serve as a resource for researchers all over the world, as well as providing adult education and school outreach services as a means of inspiring an appreciation of our collections.

As a charity, the Library relies on a variety of funding sources to support and develop our services, and to fulfill our commitment to acquire, conserve and educate. Leaving us a gift in your Will, however large or small, can make a real difference and help us to keep the history of Wales alive for future generations. Our charitable status means that any gift you make to us will be exempt from inheritance tax. We welcome any enquiries about the different options for leaving a gift in your Will, and a free legacy brochure is available upon request.
