We manage the Category A listed Britannia Panopticon Music Hall in the heart of the historic Merchant City of Glasgow in Scotland.

The Music Hall opened in 1857 and in its heyday presented popular working-class entertainment, cine films, and music hall variety acts.

These included the comedy and film actor Stan Laurel who made his first stage appearance aged 16 here in 1906, Sir Harry Lauder, Dan Leno, Little Titch, and Jack Buchanan.

We are the only surviving Music Hall in Scotland and the oldest in use in the UK. We hold a special place in the hearts of many Glaswegians. Historic Environment Scotland describes us as “an exceptionally rare survival of a music hall”.

Our fundraising helps us to open the auditorium free to visitors, present variety performances and work with the local community, supported by our many volunteers.

The building needs full restoration and conservation. It has no heating, the upper floors cannot be used currently as they are in such poor condition, and we can only be accessed by a single stair off a cobbled side street.

Donations and legacies will go towards our Capital Restoration Fund to help us conserve this very special music hall and achieve our long-term goal of purchasing the building.

Leaving a legacy in your Will to help the Friends of the Britannia Panopticon Music Hall Trust restore this building back to its former glory will ensure it can be enjoyed by future generations to come.
