Registered Charity No: 1081384 (England & Wales).

Chain of Hope provides complex cardiac surgery to children from war-torn and developing countries with life-threatening heart conditions. 90% of the world’s children with heart disease do not have access to the urgent treatment they require. That means that around 15 million children across the world remain severely ill or die because of treatable or preventable heart conditions.

Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub, OM FRS founded Chain of Hope in 1996 and has recruited some of the most inspirational leaders in the cardiac world to build an international charity that enables children to have access to the life-transforming cardiac treatment that they would not otherwise receive.

The charity helps children by flying them to the UK and international partner hospitals for urgent treatment or by mobilising volunteer medical teams to provide cardiac treatment and specialised training for the local teams.

Chain of Hope also develops overseas cardiac capability. Chain of Hope has developed cardiac services around the world, establishing infrastructure and specialist cardiac centres in Ethiopia, Egypt, and Jamaica.
