Inspiring and Nurturing Future Leaders in Engineering.
Engineers are vital in many aspects of our lives today. With urgent global and domestic engineering challenges to be solved, the Smallpeice Trust’s Arkwright Engineering Scholarships programme believes that more outstanding young people should be encouraged to become tomorrow’s leaders of the engineering profession.
Since 1991 Arkwright has awarded Scholarships to young people with a talent in engineering and related areas of design as they start their 'A' Levels or Scottish Highers. Offering mentoring, funding and networking opportunities, we help young people to achieve their potential as engineers and become tomorrow's leaders.
“I count myself fortunate to have become an engineer. Sponsoring a scholar is a way of sharing that good fortune with a new generation of engineers."
Dr G Avison, Personal Donor
“The Arkwright Scholarship was an incredible gateway through my final years of school into engineering, and has been a vital element in helping me to where I am today."
Charles Sudborough, Arkwright Scholarship alumnus
“Through the strong and respected name of Arkwright Engineering Scholarships, the Royal Navy believes that its profile as an attractive future engineering employer amongst Sixth Form students is enhanced beyond what it could achieve through its own efforts."
Barrie Harvey, Staff Officer (Engineer Officer Recruiting), Royal Navy
Engineers are a vital part of our country’s workforce and armed services – a donation or legacy to support the Arkwright Engineering Scholarships programme is an investment in a young engineer’s career that will last them a lifetime.
