HAPPA (Horses and Ponies Protection Association) has been saving lives since 1937. Founded by Miss Mona Huskie to help fight against transportation of large horses to the continent for slaughter, the charity continues to play a major role in equine welfare.

Our equine Inspectors investigate over 400 cases of cruelty and neglect each year and all rescued animals are cared for at our Rescue and rehabilitation Centre based in Lancashire.

At HAPPA, we believe that rescue is just the beginning of an animal’s journey and we work very hard to deliver an impressive assessment, rehabilitation and rehoming programme to ensure every animal has the opportunity of a Second Chance of happiness in a Forever Home.

With over 400 animals on loan plus a further 50 being cared for at our Centre at any one time, we rely totally on public support to fund the services we provide.

Legacies provide a vital source of income for HAPPA and help us to continuously repair and improve facilities at the Centre, ensure our horses; ponies and donkeys continue to enjoy a Second Chance of happiness and support the training and educational services we offer. Our new isolation block, improvements to our indoor arena and new equine crew barn were only possible thanks to recent legacies.

Your legacy will make a difference, whether it is just a few pounds or a large estate and we will use your money wisely. We’ve been making a difference for almost 80 years and with your help, will continue to save lives for many more years to come.

Please remember HAPPA in your will.
