Registered Charity No: 1056651 (England & Wales).
Missio is the Catholic Church's worldwide mission charity supporting 40% of the universal Church that is too new or too poor to support itself. Missio shares the hope of the Gospel in countries where there is turmoil, poverty and uncertainty. Through prayer and giving, Catholics in England and Wales sustain local churches overseas according to their unique culture and traditions. Missio trains local priests who provide spiritual support to the faithful through Mass and the Sacraments. Missio also builds new churches so that growing faith communities have a place to worship.
Formerly known as the Pontifical Mission Societies, Missio is made up of four branches which work together to build the Catholic faith throughout the world and care for those most in need:
The Association for the Propagation of the Faith (APF) which provides financial assistance to every one of the Catholic Church's 1,069 mission dioceses, enabling parishes to offer pastoral care to their communities and proclaim the Gospel.
The Society of St Peter the Apostle (SPA) enables mission dioceses to support new vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
Mission Together (MT) helps over 2.5 million children worldwide by providing education, nutrition and shelter. It encourages concern for children all over the world through prayer, learning and fundraising in schools in England and Wales.
The Pontifical Missionary Union (PMU) raises awareness of worldwide mission.
You can support and leave legacies to one or all of the four branches. Legacies help us invest in the future of the Church.
